Battle of Addison Island was developed in the Playwrights Unit of Ensemble Studio Theatre, and received a workshop production in their Launchpad series. The play was also workshopped in the 2015 Last Frontier Theatre Conference.

Dr. Henry Torrance, a successful heart surgeon, and his wife and daughter, are summering at their island home off the Maine coast. But quite unexpectedly they find themselves in the midst of a revolution when they learn that a renegade political group has taken over the Maine state government and seceded from the union.


The local Harbormaster, John Drisko – whose Grandfather once owned the island property – arrives to give them the news. Richard Hernandez, a handyman, happens to be working at the house. Richard is the son of the Torrance’s former house cleaner. It is soon learned that Richard is not a legal US citizen, which puts him in grave danger with the new Maine revolutionary government.


And Henry, who has been diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s and wants nothing more than to retreat from his life, is forced to fight for his property, his family and his friends.
